2026 Toronto Junior
About This Tournament
Date: October 3rd & 4th, 2026

Eligibility: GTA resident junior players born in 2006 or later
*Players from surrounding areas are eligible to participate, but only GTA residents can be crowned 2026 Toronto Junior Champion. (Maximum of 10 non‑GTA players)
Registration: Registration Form
Capacity: 130 players
Time Control: 45 minutes + 30 seconds
Format: 5 Rounds Swiss
Sections: Open, U1800. U1400 and U1000 Section. Sections may be combined if less than 12 players in a section.
Ratings: All sections will be CFC rated. Open and U1800 sections will also be FIDE rated.
Play Up: Extra $10 to play up a section. Playing up is allowed only for players within 100 rating points of the section’s minimum rating.
Schedule: Round 1 - Saturday 10 am
Round 2 - Saturday 2 pm
Round 3 - Saturday 6 pm
Round 4 - Sunday 2 pm
Round 5 - Sunday 6 pm
Award Ceremony ASAP
Default time: 30 minutes
Byes: Players may request up to two half-point byes in Rounds 1–3, provided the request is submitted before Round 1 begins. Zero-point byes are available in Rounds 4 and 5.

Prize: Trophies for top 3 and top female in each section. If the tournament reaches 130 participants, the first-place winners in the U1800, U1400, and U1000 sections will each receive a DGT chess clock. The first-place winner in the Open section will be awarded a premium electronic chess set valued at over $500.
Equipment: MCC will supply all the chess equipment.
